Whitelist Instructions for Various Email Providers
Why whitelist? To ensure that your email provider sends emails to your Inbox, rather than Spam or other folders.
AOL Mail
- First, click on the “Spam Controls” link on the lower right side of your inbox screen.
- A “Mail and Spam Controls” box will appear.
- Now click on the “Customer Sender” list link and choose the “Allow email from …” option.
- Enter email address to whitelist, then click “add” and “save.”
Earthlink
- Go to EarthLink webmail and login with your email address and password
- Select Address Book
- Select New Contact
- Enter details for the contact including the sender email address
- Select the Save button
Gmail
- Log in to Gmail and Go to Your Settings
- Select Filters and Blocked Addresses
- Create a New Filter
- Add the Email Address You Want to Whitelist
- Complete Whitelist by selecting Never send it to Spam
- Confirm the Email Was Whitelisted
Apple Mail
- Open the Mail app.
- Select Mailboxes in the top-left corner.
- Select Junk.
- Select to open the email you want to mark as not junk.
- Select the Folders icon in the bottom menu.
- Select Inbox.
NetZero/Juno
- Click “Options” and select “Junk Mail.”
- In the “Do Not Block” section, you can type an address in the box (or copy and paste it) under “Add Address to Do Not Block List.”
- Click the “Add” button to add the address to the list on the right. When you are finished, click the “Save” button.
Yahoo! Mail
- Open Yahoo Mail and log into your account.
- Navigate to “Settings” then click “More Settings.”
- Select “Filters” and hit “Add” to enter the email you'd like to whitelist.
- Name the filter and add the email address.
- Select to send all mail to “Inbox.”
- Save your settings.
Windows Live Hotmail
- Login to Hotmail, click on the Settings icon at the top right side of the page, expand it and click on More Mail Settings.
- Click on Safe and blocked senders.
- Click Safe Senders.
- Insert the email address you want to whitelist, then click Add to list.
- Email address has been whitelisted and will skip spam check by Hotmail.
Outlook 2003
- Open the email message from the sender you want to add to your address book.
- Right-click Click here to download images in the gray bar at the top of the message.
- Click Add Sender to Senders Safe List to finish.
Outlook 2007
- Right-click on the email you received (in the list of emails).
- Click Junk E-mail.
- Click Add Sender to Safe Senders List to finish.
Outlook 2010
- Click the Home tab.
- Click Junk.
- Click Junk E-mail Options.
- Click Safe Senders.
- Click Add.
- Enter [email to whitelist] and additional information if you wish.
- Click OK to finish.
Mac OS X and macOS Mail
- Select Mail | Preferences from the menu bar in Mac OS X Mail.
- Click the Rules tab.
- Click Add Rule.
- Type a name in the Description field, such as “Whitelist: mysite.com” to identify the new rule.
- Make sure the criteria reads If any of the following conditions are met and that the From field is followed by Ends with.
- Enter the domain name you want to whitelist in the field next to the Ends with field. Add an @ sign before the domain name to make the filter specific. For example, to whitelist all mail from the mysite.com domain type “@mysite.com” into the field.
- Click the plus sign next to the last condition to add another domain with the same criteria if you want to whitelist several domains.
- In the Perform the following actions section set the three fields to Move Message, to the mailbox, and Inbox or a different target folder.
- Click OK to save the rule.
- Close the Rules window.
Mozilla Thunderbird for PC and Mac
- Click Address Book.
- Make sure Personal Address Book is highlighted.
- Click New Card. This will launch a New Card window that has 3 tabs: Contact, Address & Other.
- Under Contact, enter email address and additional information if you wish.
- Click OK to finish.
iOS Devices
iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch
On any message, tap the Sender and add to either a new contact or an existing contact.
